The former Serbian international who became coach Sinisa Mihajlovic died of leukemia, at the age of 53.
It was his family who made the sad announcement in a statement published this Friday, December 16.
His wife, Arianna, and their five children deplored in this statement to the Italian agency Ansa the “unfair and premature death” of the player who evolved in Italy (AS Rome, Sampdoria Genoa, Lazio Rome and Inter Milan) before being a coach in Bologna, reports AFP.
Sinisa Mihajlovic was notably renowned for having been one of the best free kicks in the history of football. During his professional career, he played in several major European clubs accumulating titles: the Belgrade red star with whom he won the Champions League in 1991 against Marseille and the Yugoslavia championship in 1991 and 1992, Roma, Sampdoria, Lazio and Inter Milan, club with which he won two cups and the Italian championship.
