In response to Russia’s decision to limit access and slow down the functioning of Facebook, the social network has decided to ban Russian state media from disseminating advertisements and monetizing.
Facebook said on Friday, February 25, prevented the Russian state media from making money on its platform at a time when war has been raging in Ukraine since the Russian invasion in this country.
“We are now prohibiting Russian state media from disseminating advertisements or monetizing on our platform all over the world,” said Facebook’s security policy on Twitter Nathaniel Gleicher, adding that this measure was about to be implemented.
Russia accused Facebook of censoring Russian media and violating Russian human rights and citizens, thus announcing that they would restrict access to the social network.
