During a military parade, the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un distinguished himself by indicating that his country could have a preventive appeal to nuclear weapons in order to counter hostile forces and guarantee the security of the country.
“To maintain the absolute superiority of the North Korean armed forces, the country must be able to contain and thwart all dangerous attempts and threats if necessary,” he said according to comments reported by the official news agency KCNA republished by AFP.
It was not the first time that he resorted to this threat: during an imposing military parade on April 25, he had already said that he could have recourse to the nuclear arsenal if the “fundamental interests” of North Korea were threatened.
Despite severe international sanctions, North Korea is continuing to modernize its army and continues to ignore proposals to take over the negotiations made by Washington.
