The world prices for food products fell in April, after a significant leap in the previous month, mainly under the effect of a modest decline in the prices of vegetable oils and cereals, said the United Nations Food and Agriculture (FAO) on Friday May 6, 2022.
The FAO FAO index of food products recorded a drop of 0.8%, compared to the record level reached in March but remains up 29.8%, compared to its April 2021 level.
In addition, FAO has focused on a probable decline of 1.2% of world cereal exchanges compared to the previous year. According to her, global cereal production is expected to set for 2799 million tonnes, while global use of cereals during the period 2021-2022 should reach 2785 million tonnes.
