“Tunisia vote”, the moving documentary of Hichem Ben Ammar

The most experienced of documentary directors, who knew how to give its letters of nobility to the documentary film, presented its latest opus yesterday. After “Rais Labhar”, “I saw stars” and “a tale of facts” which have all had a great success, Hichem Ben Ammar signs with “Tunisia vote” a remarkable documentary on the historical day of October 23, 2011. Undeniably historical date, this special day was marked by an enthusiasm of the citizens called for the first time to democratically elect the constituent national assembly. As soon as a soft fall sun is rising, the author is working to browse the polling stations both in large cities and in the most remote corners of the country. Remarks collected in the queues or at the exit of the offices, it is always the same happiness that emerges from the faces of voters and electricity, all in an ostensibly good -natured atmosphere.

In the words of young and old, men and women almost always have the hope that October 23 is the starting point for a new Tunisia animated by the feelings of citizenship civility. The close -up plans to which Hichem Ben Ammar uses reveal as a kind of empathy with those questioned. As in these previous documentaries, the aesthetic concern is never neglected. He even gives the film a dimension which hoists him to a work of art as it is true that the emotion both citizen and poetic innervates work throughout its duration. We will not obscure the soundtrack, judiciously chosen, which perfectly marrying the solemnity of the event gives it a subtle harmony.
