Adel Hidar, the architect to whom the enlargement work was entrusted with the Sousse Olympic stadium posted a video in which he returns to the anomalies and delimits the responsibilities of each party.

Since it opened its doors to the public, during the Play-off phase of the 2021-2022 season, the Olympic stadium in Sousse has not ceased to arouse criticism of aspects relating to safety barriers, views and the state of the lawn.

Anomalies that the supporters and the municipality of Sousse have brought responsibility to Adel Hidar architect of the design office in charge of the project.

The latter, defends itself: “I specify, at first glance, that the expansion of the stadium which consists in bringing the capacity to 40 thousand instead of almost 20,000, has not changed the inclination of the stands. This aspect has not changed and the visibility for supporters, therefore, remained the same as before work.

If there are today criticisms of visibility, this is due to the absence of stadiers who ensure the right location of the supporters. For this, we have given the signage plan to the municipality to be activated, unfortunately it was not in the absence of stadiers.

Compared to iron safety obstacles, and contrary to all that has been said, they do not obscure the sight. What prevents, in fact, supporters from seeing certain areas of the terrain are the flags that fans set for barriers.

And starting from there, the supporters who stand up at the bottom of the stands obstruct the view to others and this creates an ambient non-visibility for which we do not consider ourselves responsible.

Adel Hidar architect of the design office in charge of the project

Our design office ruled with the other stakeholders on this failure to reduce its magnitude, and we will do the necessary with the consultation of all parties including that of the approval of stages and civil protection.

Regarding the state of the lawn. I must specify that the municipality of Sousse took care of its own chief, the gas operation. At the start of the operation, many denounced the clay content of the installed top ground, which pushed, in a second step, the municipality to reduce its thickness by 10 cm.

This company required the intervention of trucks and devices that penalized the drainage operation. The sandblasting operation carried out later did not solve the problem and the water stagnates in places.

As for the component of the Press Tribune, it should be noted that the MJS demanded, to meet CAF standards, that it be built at the level of so -called “Chinewa” stands which is adjacent to the locker room. This platform will be reserved for the written press and for radios stations. TV will keep its current location at the tribune of honor. The new media zone will be accessible by elevators ”.

Adel Hidar ended his intervention by saying: “If I did not say on these subjects before, it is because the architect is held by the right of reserve. It is up to the municipality to keep people informed about the different aspects of the project. I will finally say that to succeed, we have to put our hands in hand and that we do not forget our cleavages and our political colors ”.
