Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was killed by bullets this Friday, July 8, 2022 in the street in Nara, in the center of Honshu, the main island in the Japanese archipelago.
Shinzo Abe, 67 years old, was delivering a speech during a campaign rally for the senatorial elections next Sunday, when shots were fired on his back. He was immediately taken to the hospital before the Japanese media announced his death at the end of the morning.
A man suspected of being the shooter was arrested. Arrested for attempted murder, the suspect would be a 41 -year -old Japanese, named Tetsuya Yamagami, who would have belonged to the maritime force of Japanese self -defense, the Japanese navy.
Mr. Abe was the Japanese Prime Minister to have stayed the longest in power. He was stationed in 2006 for a year, then again from 2012 to 2020, when he had been forced to resign for health reasons.
