Scheduled yesterday Monday, August 29, 2022 at 8:33 am local (12:33 GMT), the launch of the Space Launch System rocket (SLS), supposed to kick off the Artémis program and mark the return of NASA to the moon, was finally postponed after a series of technical and meteorological problems.
Anomalies detected during fuel filling operations have delayed the takeoff of Artemis 1 and its giant rocket.
The mega-fuse reservoirs have been filled with more than three million liters of hydrogen and oxygen ultra-smokes. But the filling had started approximately an hour late due to a risk of lightning too high in the middle of the night.
According to engineers from the American agency, the launch could take place this Friday, September 2 or failing this on Monday, September 5
The objective of the Artémis mission is to collect information on the moon and its space environment and prepare the next inhabited flights.
The first launch, which was scheduled yesterday, aims to place the Oron vessel orbit around the moon for more than 42 days.
