Although information circulated, during the holding of the 158th session of the Arab League Council, bringing together the Ministers of Arab AEs, reporting a “resolution” of the crisis between Tunisia and Morocco, the Moroccan Foreign Minister, Naceur Bourita, assured that the position of his country vis-à-vis the reception by President Kais Saïed of the Polisario Front.
He once again described the act of Kaïs Saïed as “unacceptable” by his country.
It was during a statement to the press made in Cairo, on the sidelines of his participation in a meeting of the Arab League, that Bourita provided these details.
The Head of Moroccan diplomacy explained that the disagreement exceeded between his country and Tunisia only concerns a paragraph proposed by the Tunisian delegation concerning the Ticad 8 summit which has just taken place in Tunis.
This was possible especially after Jordanian intervention. The current text notes cooperation between Japan and the Arab states without mentioning the Ticad summit, he said.
This demonstrates that Morocco had what it wanted and that Tunisia had to comply with its “requirements”. A “concession” once again proving the “fragility” of our diplomacy …
It should be recalled that the League of Arab States has announced, through its secretary general, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the resolution of the diplomatic crisis which recently declared itself between Tunisia and Morocco.
“The dispute between Tunisia and Morocco was resolved following a meeting between their foreign ministers Othmane Jerandi and Nasser Bourita, on the sidelines of the meeting of the Arab League Council,” said Aboul Gheit, during a press briefing in Cairo.
Tunisia and Morocco have not reacted to the words of the Secretary General of the Arab League.
