Maison Cérès Éditions created the event within the fair with the publication of a work of interviews with Bourguiba Junior.
Soberly entitled “Our History”, this work signed by Habib Bourguiba Junior is based on interviews that the latter had with the academic Mohamed Kerrou.
The book, richly illustrated with black and white photos, is divided into eight parts which respond to three main axes.
First axis, Bibi Junior, as the Tunisians had affectionately, talks about his youth and his parents.
Second axis, the only son of Bourguiba evokes four decades of Tunisian independence, from the 1950s in the wake of independence in the eighties called “truncated decade”.
Finally, the last two chapters of the book analyze the reports of Bourguiba father with Islam and the conflict of the Middle East.
The work of almost 400 pages is truly exciting insofar as it is not only a reflection of a life, but also the subjective story of an important page in Tunisian history.
In addition, beyond the testimony proper, the book contains in filigree, a message that prevents Tunisians from the perilous ways they may take.
And as such, Habib Bourguiba Junior (1927-2009) seems to have anticipated the crisis that is shaking Tunisia today.
The circumstances want a passage, testimony of Bourguiba Junior, is topical since he talks about Ahmed Mestiri who, according to him, “defended his own person by arguing that he defended democracy”.
