The Nobel Prize for Medicine and Physiology for the Year 2022 was awarded, this Monday, October 3, 2022, to the Swedish scientist Svante Pääbo (67) for his discoveries on human evolution.
Mr. Pääbo conducted research comparing the genome of modern humans with those of Neanderthals and Denisovians, showing that there was a mixture between species.
The Prix de Medicine begins a week of Nobel Prize winners. It continues Tuesday with the physics price, then chemistry on Wednesday and literature on Thursday. The Nobel Peace Prize for Peace 2022 will be announced on Friday and the economy prize on October 10.
