During her inauguration speech, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni returned to relations with the countries of North Africa.
According to him, Italy must regain its central place in this area to establish new relations with these countries. In this sense, she announced the “Enrico Mattei” plan aimed at a new partnership with Africa and in particular North Africa.
“On October 27, it will be the sixtieth anniversary of the death of Enrico Mattei, a great Italian. Here, I believe that Italy must promote a ‘Mattei plan’ for Africa, a virtuous model of collaboration and growth between the EU and the African nations, “she said.
By the way, Mattei is none other than the founder of the giant Eni, and for the first Italian official, it is high time to open a new page with African countries, in particular through energy.
Moreover, she specifies that Italy must return to the deep causes which encourage the clandestine migration promising in this sense a new dynamic of cooperation.
