Germany has recorded an inflation rate which it has not known since 1951, according to figures published this Friday, November 11, 2022, by the Institut de Statistics “Destatis”.
In fact, inflation reached a record rate of 10.4% in October. The price index has gained 0.4 point in annual shift compared to September, its highest level since November 1951.
The harmonized price index, which serves as a reference for the European Central Bank recorded an increase of 11.6%, due, in particular, to the enormous increase in the price of energy products, according to Georg Thiel, president of Destatis.
Energy prices increased by 43% over a year in October, after an increase of 43.9% in September, according to the same source.
