From January 1, 2023, the WhatsApp application will no longer work on 49 models of smartphones which will become obsolete for the online messaging application. To keep access to messaging, it will be necessary to have an operating system greater than iOS 12.1 or Android 4.1.

Technological evolution requires, in fact messaging to evolve, on the other hand, to function on new models of smartphones and thus become incompatible with those older.

As of January 1, 2023, this will be the case for WhatsApp, with 49 models of phones that will become obsolete for the online messaging application. This will mainly affect models of 10 -year -old smartphones.

The mobile application explains, in fact that “to stay in the race for the latest technological advances, we regularly stop taking care of the old operating systems to devote our resources to the management of the most recent systems”.

For example, the iPhone 5 and 5C, or the Samsung Galaxy S2 and S3, ten years old models, are in the list of smartphones likely to lose their access to the application.

To be able to keep access to WhatsApp, users will have to have a smartphone with a version higher than iOS 12.1 for Apple or Android 4.1. It is also possible to continue to benefit from WhatsApp, provided you have a device on which it is possible to update the operating system in order to go to the following version.
