The teams of Tunisia and Israel could find themselves in the quarterfinals of the Junior World Cup which is currently being held in Argentina if they manage to get rid of Brazil and Uzbekistan respectively.
If it is still early to speak of such a possibility, it is, however, good to know how the Tunisian authorities will react if this scenario occurs.
The decision to play or not the match, all in all complex, would exceed, in our opinion, the framework of the FTF in the person of its president, Wadiï Jery.
In our opinion, only the President of the Republic could decide the way to take. And in both cases, his position is not without risks.
If Kais Saied decides that Tunisia is withdrawing, it is certain that it will please people who are against normalization with the Zionist entity and who seem in the majority. Such a position would accommodate a political victory a few months before the presidential elections of 2024.
But on the sporting level, it could be worth a lot of turmoil. The partiality of FIFA is no longer to demonstrate, especially when it comes to Israel, the international football organization risks, in fact, of suspending international participations in terms of selections and in the level of clubs for a more or less long duration.
In the event that the authorities of the country decide that the match takes place, it is a risk and for the popularity of Kais Saied and for the image of Tunisia which has always defended the Palestinian cause and which is among the rare Arab countries which have not standardized with the Zionist entity despite the American and European pressures.
