Against the background of a corruption case that caused a scandal, several senior Ukrainian officials announced on Tuesday January 24, 2023 their resignation after revelations from the press on alleged purchases of provisions for the army at swollen prices.
Among the officials who resigned were the Deputy Minister of Defense Viatcheslav Chapovalov, who was in charge of the logistical support of the armed forces, the deputy chief of the presidential administration Kyrylo Tymochenko and the deputy prosecutor Oleksiï Simonenko.
“I thank the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyipour the confidence and the opportunity to take good deeds every day and every minute,” wrote Kyrylo Tymoshenko on Telegram publishing a photo of his resignation letter.
Following these twists and turns, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that changes would be made in high government positions and regional positions.
“There are already personnel changes-some today, others tomorrow-concerning civil servants of different levels in ministries and other structures of the central government, as well as in regions and in the law application system,” he said.
