The teams of the National Heritage Institute quickly carried out the restoration of the large portal of Bab Bhar. The work has been carried out in recent days in synergy with the governorate of Tunis.
The restoration made it possible to replace the damaged sections and strengthen the navel of the portal whose painting has also been refreshed. All in compliance with the rules of the art thanks to the expertise of teams from the National Heritage Institute.
Crossing every day by thousands of tourists and passers -by, the Bab Bhar door thus regains all its brilliance.
For the record, In a column of July 14, Webdo had drawn the attention of managers and opinion on the state of this emblematic door of the city of Tunis. Below, the text of the ticket in question:
Bab Bhar is a must for anyone visiting the Tunis medina. This door is found in the east of the capital and had the function of connecting the medieval city to its port. Also called Porte de France, this access from the city of Tunis is today crossed by thousands of tourists every week.
Unfortunately, the monumental door loses flaps and no one pays attention to it. Evented in places, it requires repairs before the “injury” worsens.
Our photos show that a few welds would be enough for this door – pride of Tunis – finds its integrity “.
