In Tunis, artists mobilize to save a bookstore

Tunis / A solidarity movement was created at the announcement of the closure of the “Passion du Libr’ere” bookstore, located at the Cité Ennasr, following financial problems. Tunisian designers, bdéists and artists find themselves from this Friday, January 30 to collect funds.

On Monday, January 21, the owner of the bookstore “Passion du Libr’ere”, Abir Riahi, announces the closure of the establishment on his Facebook page in these terms:

(Pull_quot_Center) “It is reluctantly that we are announcing the imminent closure of our space. A dream in which we believed, and did our best to keep it alive. Reality is different from us, and space survival is increasingly difficult. Therefore, we offer a week of total liquidation from Saturday January 24, 2015. (Ample information will be communicated to you by then) Thank you for your loyalty. »(/Pull_quote_Center)
Support of Tunisian caricaturists and bdists
Following this announcement, Tunisian cartoonists such as Willis From Tunis, Adenov and Erevolution, and the Bdéistes collective LAB619 organized an event on Facebook for a meeting, this Friday, in the premises of the bookstore, in order to sell numbers and draw illustrations for the benefit of the brand.

Several events until Sunday, February 8
Many posts have also called to support the bookstore and buy books to help them survive. The owner then entrusted to the TAP:

(Pull_quot_Center) I was surprised by the reaction of citizens and my artist and activists of associative and cultural space. (/Pull_quote_Center)
