The two players have already clashed in the past with a victory each. Ons Jabeur won in 2016 during the Daytona Beach tournament. The American had taken revenge in 2019 by beating Ons Jabeur during the Guangzhou tournament.
Ons Jabeur faced the Italian in the first round, Lucia Bronzetti, 65th in the WTA ranking, which she beat in two sets (6-4, 6-1). In the second round, she eliminated the French Oceane Dodin (122nd) in two sets (6-2.6-3).
She won, on Saturday in pain her place in the round of 16 of Roland Garros. After losing the first set, Ons Jabeur produced a good comeback and was able to overthrow the steam against the Serbian Danilovic (105th) in the last two sets to finally win in three sets (4-6.6-4.6-2).
