The Kamila art exhibition invites you to discover a Tunisian summer day

The French Institute of Tunisia will organize the exhibition “Art Kamila, praised the slowness or the art of living in summer in Tunisia”, from this Saturday, May 30 until June 1, at the France residence in La Marsa.

For its 2nd edition, the project brings together a collection of objects produced by Tunisian craftsmen in Dar Al Kamila.

The designer and exhibition commissioner, Philippe Xerri, will stage the achievements of the craftsmen in an imaginary house in the heart of the Moorish coffee of the residence, by recreating a real house, where the rooms will tell a story between them. This furniture, imagined by the designer and produced by eleven Tunisian craftsmen, pays tribute to Tunisian crafts.

The distribution of the parts is made so that each follows the typical course of a Tunisian summer day, by valuing the daily rituals. Working for a praise of slowness, Philippe Xerri invites you to relax and reverie thanks to diverted and simplified furniture.

This project aims to promote young Tunisian craftsmen through the development of innovative objects, as well as the development and structuring of artisanal know-how, which are key elements of Tunisian intangible heritage.

The first edition of the exhibition “Art Kamila” in 2013, led by Philippe Xerri, Mohamed Messaoudi and Sadika Keskes, had been very successful with more than 2,000 visitors.
