In a statement made public, the Ministry of the Interior of the Libyan National Union government announced, yesterday Sunday, March 26, the deployment of security patrols throughout the borders between Libya and Tunisia.
Indeed, the Libyan parties announce “the continuation of the action of its Sahrawi security unit, under the border guard, through security patrols throughout the borders with Tunisia, the El-Assa region to the point, El-Ahimer, to secure the borders of the country”.
The security of borders between Tunisia and Libya is a complex and important question, which requires a multilateral and coordinated approach between the two neighboring countries, as well as with other countries in the region and the international community.
To effectively secure borders, Tunisia and Libya must strengthen their cooperation in intelligence, monitoring and control of people’s movements and goods. This requires an improvement in coordination between the security forces of the two countries, as well as the implementation of information sharing and training mechanisms for security agents.
