The Tunisian film Akher Wahed Final (The Last of US) by Ala Eddine Slim has just been selected in official competition from the 31st week of criticism of the 73rd edition of the Venice Mostra which will be held from August 31 to September 10, 2016. This fiction feature film will be screened worldwide.
Synopsis
N., a young sub -Saharan, crosses the desert to reach northern Africa and make a clandestine crossing to Europe. After a flight, he is left alone in Tunisia. He then decides to perform the solo crossing. He steals a boat and begins his trip, except that he breaks down in the open sea. From this moment, N. will discover different and infinite spaces, will meet intense and fugitive, and will be confronted with an altered image of himself.
Akher Wahed Final is the first feature film fiction by Ala Eddine Slim. This young filmmaker, born in 1982, graduated from the Higher Institute of Multimedia Arts in Manouba in Tunisia. His end -of -studies project, entitled The Night of Dreamers won a prize at the National Kélibia Amateur Film Festival in 2004.
Then, in 2005, he created the company Exit Productions with Ali Hassouna. Between 2007 and 2012, he produced and produced several short films, notably “fall”, “one night among the others”, “in the company of Hamlet” …
In 2012, he co-produced the feature film Babylon with Ismael Louati and Youssef Chebbi. Babylon was selected at several festivals and won several awards. It was also scheduled in MoMA in New York and at the opening of the new Marseille contemporary art mussée.
On July 16, in Marseille, the Akher Wahed Final project received the pocket video award, one of the 7 prizes from Fidlab. The members of the jury had focused on the singularity of the project’s cinematographic approach and on its high artistic qualities.
