Morocco and Algeria far ahead of Tunisia!

Morocco and Algeria are at the top of the countries that spend the most in terms of armaments in North Africa according to the latest report of the International Peace Research Institute of Stockholm (SIPRI).

Morocco spent its military purchases in 2022, $ 5.4 billion, the same amount as in 2021.
As for our Algerian neighbor, he spent $ 9.1 billion, a drop of 3.7% compared to the previous year.

These two countries represent together 74% of military spending in North Africa, estimated at $ 19.1 billion, or 3.2% less than what they were in 2021.

Tunisia, Mauritania, Libya and Egypt gathered spent in 2022 nearly $ 5 billion (4.96 billion) in purchase of armaments, less from what the Cherifian kingdom spent in one year.

Sipri’s most recent value on Tunisia reports armament expenses of around 2.8 billion in 2021.

Global military spending increased significantly in 2022, reaching a historic summit of $ 2240 billion, an increase of 3.7%.

The three countries that have spent the most for their defense in 2022 are the United States, China and Russia, representing 56% of world military spending.
