JCC and enthusiasts …
After months of waiting, the 2016 JCCs are finally there. Two evenings in a row, I go to the offices of the organizing committee, and it is the anthill at work. Seen from the outside one cannot imagine what a festival of this scale means. Hundreds of guests for which you have to organize travel, stays, programs (between press conferences, meetings, film presentations, tributes, evenings, meetings, etc.). Hundreds of films to see, select, program … Plan the organization of ticket office, opening and closing evenings, media, transport, print programs, catalogs, posters, make communication, ensure the safety of all …
There is indeed all this to set up, and even more.
To ensure the success of this festival, dozens of people spend days doing their best, working hard, sometimes at night, and often without even taking the time to eat!
Among these people, simple employees, but especially dozens of enthusiasts. I think we have to pay tribute to them today because they have been working for the festival for months, so for all of us, moviegoers and Tunisians.
Congratulations to them all.
I don’t know if everything went well, if everything will be perfect, but all these people will have done their best.
JCC in posters and spots…
During the press conference on October 20, the poster was disclosed. A very nice poster. I think I would have preferred a single poster for the JCC and the fiftieth anniversary, but sincerely, the two posters are very beautiful. Shared spots on the internet too.

The 2016 JCC trailer
The trailer for films in competition, as The choice of the place where the press conference took place, is also a message sent to the extremists. Indeed, with the images of the selected films, the song Alli Soutak (Student La Voix) by Mohamed Mounir. This film song Al Massir de Youssef Chahine was surely not chosen at random!
Just like in the film, she shouts in the face of the extremists: we are still there, and we will raise the voice over and again.
And as in addition, the JCCs pay a tribute to Youssef Chahine this year!
JCC, a very diverse program …
In addition, the day before yesterday, The complete program by Salles was finally revealed. It is very diverse this year. Recent films in competition, tributes, Russian cinema, Asian cinema, Tunisian cinema…
A lot of quality films are scheduled since for the fiftieth anniversary, most of the films that have been awarded during the previous JCCs will be screened. I would quote as examples, The Silences of the Palace de Moufida Tlatli (Tanit d’or 1994), Wedding in Galileo by Michel Khleifi (Tanit d’Or 1988), The man of the ashes de Nouri Bouzid (Tanit d’Or 1986), The choice de Youssef Chahine (Tanit d’or 1970), The canoe from Moussa Touré (Tanit d’Or 2012) and Microphone by Ahmed Abdallah (Tanit d’Or 2010), a film which marked a turning point in the cinema of Egyptian author.
Good festival to all!
