According to Anadolu agency, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan obtained 49.94% of the vote while 90% of the bulletins had been stripped on Sunday evening. Turkey is therefore heading for a second round.
Turkey is heading for a second round of the presidential election. At the end of the evening, Sunday, May 14, the Anadolu agency put Rece Tayyip Erdogan for the first time below the 50% mark while almost 90% of the ballot boxes had been stripped.
The outgoing Turkish President collected 49.94% of the votes against 44.38% for the main opposition candidate Kemal Kiliçdagllu.
To be elected in the first round, a candidate must obtain a majority of 50% of the votes. If no candidate exceeds 50% in the first round, a second round will then be organized on Sunday May 28.
