The start of the Donald Trump criminal trial for accounting fraud was set Tuesday to March 25, 2024, in the middle of the former American president for the republican investiture in the November presidential election.
The decision was announced by Manhattan Juan Merchan judge at a hearing in which Donald Trump attended Florida, by videoconference. The magistrate also imposed restrictions on public communication from the former president on legal proceedings.
Donald Trump pleaded not guilty of 34 counts of accounting fraud intended to hide money payments aimed at buying the silence of two women who had sex with him during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Donald Trump is the first former president in the history of the United States targeted by a criminal indictment.
