Five people including four children were injured in a knife attack in Annecy. Three of the victims have a committed vital prognosis.
A knife attack occurred this Thursday, June 8, 2023, in a public park frequented by children, in Annecy (Haute-Savoie). The suspect was arrested thanks to the very rapid intervention of the police.
According to AFP, five people were injured, including four young children. Three of the victims have a committed vital prognosis, according to a latest assessment.
The assailant would have been injured at the time of his arrest and taken care of by the emergency services. He is of Syrian nationality, a 32 -year -old asylum seeker and unknown to all files, according to a police source.
The assailant, a Syrian refugee
The suspect, born in 1991, had recorded an asylum application in France in November 2022, in normal procedure. In the meantime, however, he had obtained refugee status in Sweden on April 26. It was therefore regular from the point of view of European Union law.
He was placed in police custody at the Annecy police station while waiting to know more about his motivations, his past, his history or his psychological state.
