Shahjahan Bhuiyan, who had been sentenced to 42 years in prison for murder obtained his release after 32 years of incarceration in Bangladesh.
His sentence was reduced after numerous discounts of sentence to have become the executioner of the prison and after having executed dozens of other prisoners.
He was released on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at the age of 74 after having completed 26 executions, including officers found guilty of the 1975 coup and the murder of the then president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
