A novelist and essayist, Albert Memmi was born in Tunis in 1920. Author, among others, of “La Statue de Sel”, Memmi has lived in France for many years but keeps all his contacts with Tunisia.
He has just published his 1955-1956 newspaper by CNRS editions, in the Biblis collection. This newspaper is published and annotated by Guy Dugas and reports on the adventures of Tunisian independence under the gaze of Albert Memmi.
Precious testimony and rare document, this work will soon be available in bookstores in Tunisia. This newspaper returns to the release of Tunisia and offers portraits of those who made this revolution in Tunisia in the 1950s.
Memmi also talks about what he considers his personal emancipation and the birth of his literary ambition.
“Tunisia, an I”, a work that offers unprecedented lighting and the always essential look of the great Albert Memmi.
