Two vacationers who had lost themselves at sea aboard their jet ski, near the Moroccan coastal city of Saïdia, were killed by Algerian coast guard when they had lost themselves in an Algerian maritime area.
According to the Moroccan information site LE360, “Bilal Kissi and Abdelali Mechouer were killed Tuesday evening by Algerian coast guard in the Algerian maritime space after having lost to sea aboard their jet ski, near the Moroccan coastal city of Saïdia”.
For its part, France confirmed, this Friday, September 1, the death of one French and the incarceration of another in Algeria in an incident involving several French nationals.
The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs evokes the death of a single national and did not specify the circumstances of his death.
A third man, also Franco-Moroccan, Smaïl Snabé, was arrested by the Algerian coast guard and presented Wednesday before an Algerian prosecutor, specifies Le360 which relies on “concordant sources”.
The four young people-three Franco-Moroccans and a Moroccan-were each on a jet ski, according to a witness.
“We got lost but we continued until we found ourselves in Algeria. We knew that we were in Algeria because an Algerian black zodiac came to us, he began to zigzag as if they wanted to overthrow us, “said Mohamed Kissi, the older brother of Bilal, with the Moroccan site Al Omk.
He said he was recovered by the Moroccan navy who brought him back to the Saïdia Marina.
“They (the occupants of the zodiac) shot us. Thank God, I was not touched but my brother and my friend, they killed them. They arrested my other friend, “he added. “We got lost and we were out of fuel,” he said.
The boundaries between the two countries have been closed since 1994, and Algeria has broken its diplomatic links with Morocco in August 2021.
