At least 150 people died following the floods caused by the Daniel storm in Derna, in the regions of Jabal al-Akhdar and in the suburbs of Al-Marj in eastern Libya.
These floods caused by torrential rains left at least 150 dead, said an official Libyan source to AFP on Monday, September 11, 2023.
The storm “Daniel” struck the east of Libya on Sunday afternoon, notably the coastal cities of the Jabal al-Akhdar (northeast) but also Benghazi where a curfew was decreed and the schools closed. The region has already been affected by torrential rains for a few days.
The storm “Daniel” has also struck Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria in recent days, killing at least 27 people.
