Floods caused by torrential rains left at least 150 dead in eastern Libya, in turn struck by the Daniel storm after Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria.
Intervening on the Almasar channel, the chief executive in eastern Libya, Osama Hamad, advanced the figures for “more than 2,000 dead and thousands of disappeared” in the city of Derna alone, but no medical source or emergency services confirmed this assessment.
Via its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Libya launched an appeal for international aid, especially since the number of disappeared is around nine thousand according to official sources.
Recall that in a press release made public this Monday, September 11, 2023, the Presidency of the Republic announced that the Head of State gave his instructions to coordinate with the Libyan authorities with a view to mobilizing human resources and material means to support the efforts of rescue and care of the wounded, following the floods.
