An updated assessment which shook, on September 8, certain provinces and prefectures of Morocco reported 2,901 dead and 5,530 injured until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the Moroccan Interior Ministry said in a statement.
The number of deaths amounted to 1643 in the province of Al Haouz, while no new death was reported in the other provinces and prefectures concerned, specifies the ministry, adding that among those deceased 2884 were buried.
Moroccan public authorities are continuing their efforts to rescue, evacuate and take charge of the wounded and unlock the damaged roads following the earthquake, while mobilizing all the necessary means in order to manage the repercussions of this painful tragedy.
International aid was mobilized for the benefit of Morocco, except that this country has refused certain humanitarian convoys, including that of Algeria.
