This morning, the video of Egyptian song 3 Daqat De Abu and Youssra, which has only been online since October 12, 2017, has reached impressive figures of more than 55 million views on YouTube and more than 11 million views on Facebook.
In reality, success had been immediate. On October 15, three days after putting online, the video had already exceeded one million views on YouTube and the 6 million on Facebook. October 31, two weeks later, Elyes Gharbi, in his show Mosaic morenoted that this video had already reached more than 12 million views!
Personally, I was already under the spell of this song since the very first times I had heard it. It was during The first edition of the El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) in Egypt (September 22 – 29, 2017).
Abu, the singer, was among the guests. And every night, wherever we go, we listened to this song. At first, I think no one had given importance, but over the evenings, she imposed herself to us. It was enough for her to pass for everyone to start singing and dancing. All. And often several times a evening!
The day before the festival fence, I found myself by chance on the film set of this video. It was happening in the Aurora restaurant, at the Marina d’El Gouna. I was impressed. There were a large number of Egyptian stars and it was prodigious to see them in the middle of filming!
The next day, according to an insistent rumor among the guests of the festival, the big surprise of the closing ceremony would be that Youssra was going to sing!
And indeed, the ceremony had ended with 3 Daqat sung by Abu and Youssra, joined by several other artists. It was a beautiful final!
Then, this song that all qualified as an hymn of the El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) invaded the TV channels and the newspapers. All were talking about it. The video of the final has also spread on a large scale on social networks.
Two weeks later, the song’s video was on YouTube and Facebook and lightning success had started.
In fact, this song was a stroke of genius from the El Gouna Film Festival!
Personally, I believed in a marketing operation matured and planned for many months. I had also benefited, in Tunis first and in Cairo afterwards, of the presence of Mr.intishal Al Timimi, Managing Director of the El Gouna film festival to congratulate him and ask him a few questions
Indeed, I found that 3 Daqat was a great advertising for the GFF. Several weeks after the closing ceremony, this song was still promoting the festival. We heard it everywhere, on radio, on TV, in restaurants, in private evenings … and even in the evenings organized by the Carthage Cinematographic Days and by the Cairo International Film Festival!

However, contrary to what I believed, I learned that this marketing operation was spontaneously done during the festival.
Abu had already composed the music and when he had met the famous screenwriter Tamer Habib, he had asked her to write the lyrics of the song. What they will do together in four hours. Then they had the idea of including a female voice. They had thought of Youssra.
Once the song is ready, Abu and Tamer Habib made him listen to Mr.Naguib Sawiris, promoter of the El Gouna film festival who offered to shoot a clip.
24 hours later, the shooting had started. The stars invited to the festival agreed to play the game for free. In the video video, we see in particular the actors Nabil Issa, Shereen Reda, Ahmed Malek, Ezzat Abou Phew, Maha Abu OUF, Salma Abu Deif, Ahmed Dach, Jamila Adel Awad, the director Amr Salama, the screenwriter Tamer Habib and of course Youssra.
It was to Mariam Abou Phew that the production of the clip was entrusted.
M.intishal Al Timimi admitted that the success was completely unexpected and pleasantly surprised them. He even told me that since the end of the festival, in El Gouna, hotel reservations have been increasing and the prices of land have increased !!!
I admit that I admire the responsiveness of the festival management. In a few days, the song was accepted and the clip turned. This is only possible in the private sector. The JCC or the CIFF could never have carried out such an operation so quickly and as effectively given the administrative heaviness that they must face.
Today, three months later, thanks in part to 3 Daqatwe are still talking and more and more GFF. And what is ironic is that during the evenings of the JCC and the CIFF, the guests sang and danced on this hymn of the El Gouna festival!
We must admit that the song is beautiful, joyful and catchy, we feel that it gives off positive waves. We listen to him and listen to a loop, to become “dependent”!
