Tunisian film Beauty and pack From Kaouther Ben Hania will represent Tunisia at the Oscar for the best film in a foreign language.
The 91st Oscar ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on February 24, 2019.
As every year, all countries are invited to file the film representing their cinematography as best as possible according to the criteria defined by the Academy of Oscars.
The film representing Tunisia at Oscars in the category of the best film in a foreign language, was selected by a commission organized under the aegis of the CNCI And made up of eight personalities: Chiraz Latiri General Director of the CNCI, Slim Dargachi Secretary General of the CNCi, Nouri Bouzid Director, Salma Baccar Director, Imed Marzouk producer, Jilani Saadi Director, Moslah Kraiem Director and Khemayes Khayati Critical and Director.
The film Beauty and pack Applicated last year to the same commission and had been classified second favorite, he is also the only one to compete this year and he meets all the eligibility criteria as mentioned in the participation regulations published by the Academy of Oscars. It was unanimously appointed by the Commission which met at the CNCI headquarters on September 16, 2018 to represent Tunisia at the Oscar for the best film in a foreign language.
The official announcement of films that will be selected for the final competition is scheduled for January 22, 2019.
This award had been awarded in 2018 to the Spanish film A fantastic woman by Sébastian Lelio.
Beauty and pack had been selected in official competition at several festivals including the Cannes Film Festival in The selection “a certain look”.
