In addition, the 2017 session of Carthage’s cinematographic days had introduced a new “Focus” section which highlights each year, four countries representing sub-Saharan Africa, the Arab world, Asia and Latin America giving the festival its tri-continental dimension, wanted during its foundation, thus confirming its vocation as a southern festival.
For the 2018 session, experience will be renewed and it is Senegal, Iraq, India and Brazil that will be the guest of honor.
These 4 countries will be present with their rich cinematographies (classic and recent films) but also with their culture in all its forms and will participate in event and festive activities that will brighten up Avenue Habib Bourguiba.
This is how, for example, the national Iraqi popular arts troupe and the National Ballet in Senegal will perform in Tunis.
For history, we can recall that the first Tanit of gold of the JCC was attributed in 1966 to Sembène Ossman for The black of … and that Siméne was the traveling companion of Tahar Cheriaa, founder of the JCC.
