The second edition of the Festival du Cinéma Meditérranean Manarat will be held from July 1 to 7, 2019.
After a first press conference on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festivala second press conference was held on Wednesday June 19 at 11 a.m. at the BIAT headquarters, sponsor of the festival. Dora Bouchoucha, director of the festival, Chiraz Latiri, CEO of the CNCI, Sophie Renaud, director of the French Institute of Tunisia, Khansa Bouassida, head of the institutional communication management within the Biat and Leila Tekaia, central director within the National Office of Tunisian Tourism, welcomed press and professionals, who came to discover the program of this second edition of the Festival Manarat Strong success met in Tunisia and the Mediterranean in 2018.
The spirit of Manarat, built around Mediterranean cinema, is above all to bring together. Bringing the public around shared values, bringing together institutions around common projects and bringing together the different regions of the country around free seaside projections and accessible to all.

Feature films fiction and documentaries of about twenty countries on the two banks, a tribute to the news of Egyptian and Italian cinema, conversations between great cinema personalities, professional and institutional encounters around issues related to the distribution of Arab films … Without forgetting the famous sea canvases that will bring together 9 beaches from the north to the south of the Tunisian coast to welcome the public : La Marsa, Kheireddine, Hammam-Lif, Korba, Bizerte, Gabès, Monastir, Sfax and Djerba.

The writer, poet and screenwriter Medhat EL ADL (Egypt)? and the directors Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne (Belgium).

Ten competition films will be screened in front of a jury which will award the gold manar from the best film as well as an interpretation price 😕 A Shelter Among The Clouds by Robert Budina (Albania); ? The Swing of Cyril Aris (Lebanon); ? The healer by Mohamed Zineddaine (Morocco); ? Look at me from Nejib Belkadhi (Tunisia); ? The Announcement by Mahmut Fazil Coskun (Türkiye).
This jury will be made up of:? Kamel Daoud (Algerian writer and journalist, transfer prize for the best French language novel and the 2018 Mediterranean Prize for Zabor or Psalmspublished in 2017 and Goncourt Prize for the first novel in 2015 for Meursault, counter-investigation),? Salwa Aly (Egyptian actress, member of the jury of the National Egyptian Theater Festival, the Cairo Film International Film Festival and the Luxor African Film Festival…),? Michel Leclerc (French screenwriter and director, César for the best original script for The names of people in 2010) ,? Souir Ben Amara (Tunisian actress who notably played in Tlamessselected at the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019),? In addition to the provision of a professional cinema space, Manarat has enabled the creation of a commission of Arab cinematographic institutes (AFIC – Arab Film Institute Commission), composed of 7 countries: Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan; This commission gave birth to a new professional initiative in 2019, The Arab Film Platform, the Arab film platform.
It is by counting on the support of the many partners and particularly of the media that Manarat will be anchored in the Mediterranean landscape and will give Tunisians the opportunity to feel involved in this “pond nostrum”.
