Malek Jaziri officially ended his career last May after 20 years of good and loyal service. Tunisian tennis player was honored on Saturday by the professional tennis association.
He was honored on the sidelines of the ATP Final in Turin, just like a number of tennis players who retired in 2023. They were all honored at this ceremony.
Malek Jaziri, 39, has played the last matches in his long career this season. Malek Jaziri had also announced that the Tunis Open last May would be his last tournament as a professional player, he who started his career in 2004 and played 1064 official matches for 574 victories.
Professional since 2003, he won several ATP Challenger Tour and numerous medals in the African Cup of Nations and the Mediterranean Games and also participated in two Olympic tournaments, in London in 2012 and in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
Malek Jaziri reached his best position in the ATP ranking on January 7, 2019, ranking 42nd.
In 2021, he succeeded in a historic feat with the Tunisia team by accessing group I for the first time of the Davis Cup.
During his very rich career, Jaziri challenged world stars like the Swiss Roger Federer, the Serbian Novac Djokovic and the British Andy Murray.
Malek Jaziri was honored last September by the International Tennis Federation, during its elective general assembly organized in Cancún, Mexico.
