The film Un Divan in Tunis in competition at Venice Days 2019

The French film A couch in Tunis (Arab Blues) is selected in competition at the authors’ days – Venice Days 2019, which will take place on the sidelines of the 76th edition of the International Mostra of Venice Cinema which will take place from August 29 to September 8, 2019.

The authors’ days – Venice Days, are an independent section of the Venice Mostra, like the fortnight of directors in Cannes and the Panorama of Berlin.

Written and produced by the Franco-Tunisian Manele Labidi, A couch in Tunis is a dramatic comedy shot in the northern suburbs of Tunis in September and October 2018. There is in the main roles, the Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani and the Tunisian actors Hichem Yacoubi, Majd Mastoura, Amen Arbi, Feryel Chammari, Moncef Anjegui, Ramla Ayari and Aicha Ben Miled.

In 2017, Manele Labidi had won the Sopadin Grand Prix for the best scenario for this project A couch in Tunis.

Synopsis: After practicing in France, Selma, 35, opens her psychoanalysis cabinet in a popular suburb of Tunis, in the aftermath of the Revolution. Despite an eventful beginnings, demand is important in this schizophrenic country. While Selma is starting to find her marks, she discovers that he is missing an authorization for an essential practice to continue the cabinet. In her administrative quest, Selma will have to reconnect with a past she believed behind her.
