Algerian international footballer Youcef Atal, was placed in police custody in Nice where he was back after participating in the two matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with the Algerian selection.

Youcef Atal, player of the OGC Nice, under an investigation for “apology for terrorism and public provocation to hatred or violence” following publications on his Instagram account, in which he shared a video of a preacher calling God to “send a black day to the Jews”, he was placed in police custody, Thursday, November 23, before being presented to a judge today.
For his part, his OGC Nice club had made the decision to suspend the player until further notice, in response to the shared content on social networks. As for the disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League, the latter inflicted a suspension of seven games.
