Israeli attacks must be investigated for war crimes

The NGO calls on the international community to “act now to prevent Gaza from becoming a” giant cemetery “.

The NGO Amnesty International announced in a statement released in the evening of Friday, October 20, 2023, having information “on illegal Israeli attacks, including indiscriminate attacks, which have made a large number of civilian victims and must be the subject of an investigation as war crimes”.

Satellite images analyzed

Amnesty International indicates, in her press release that she spoke with survivors and eyewitnesses, that she analyzed satellite images and verified photos and videos to investigate the air bombings led by Israeli forces between October 7 and 12, “who caused horrible destruction and, in some cases, aneant families”.

“With their declared intention to use all means to destroy Hamas, Israeli forces have shown shocking contempt for civil lives. They pulverized on rue du Rue des Buildings Residential, killing large -scale civilians and destroying essential infrastructure, while new restrictions make Gaza quickly lack water, drugs, fuel and electricity, “said Agnès Callamard, secretary general of Amnesty International.

She claims that “the declarations of the eye witnesses and the survivors” are made to demonstrate several times how the Israeli attacks decimated the Palestinian families, causing such destruction that the survivors have only rubble to remember their loved ones “.

No proof of the presence of fighters

The NGO also accuses the Israeli army of trying to justify its actions under false pretext. “The Israeli army claims that it only attacks military targets, but in a number of cases, Amnesty International has found no evidence of the presence of combatants or other military objectives nearby at the time of the attacks,” continues the organization.

Amnesty International also noted that “the Israeli army did not take all possible precautions before attacks, in particular by not effectively warning Palestinian civilians. In some cases, she has not warned civilians at all and in others, she has issued inadequate warnings. ”

According to Agnès Callamard, “the five cases represent only a tiny part of the horror documented by Amnesty and illustrate the devastating impact of Israeli air bombings on the Gaza population”.

Acting now to prevent Gaza from becoming a “giant cemetery”

“For 16 years, the illegal blockade of Israel has made Gaza the largest open-air prison in the world,” she denounces calling the international community to “act now to prevent it from becoming a giant cemetery”.

“We ask Israeli forces to immediately end illegal attacks in Gaza and make sure they take all possible precautions to minimize the damage caused to civilians and civilian goods,” adds Callamard.

“The allies of Israel must immediately impose a full embargo on arms, since serious violations of international law are committed.” The manager also claims that her organization “asks Hamas and other armed groups to urgently release all civil hostages and immediately stop the shots of blind rockets. Nothing can justify the deliberate assassination of civilians, whatever the circumstances, ”she continues.

Finally, she says it is “essential that the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court urgently accelerates his undergoing investigation into proofs of war crimes and other crimes of international law committed by all parties”.

“Without justice and without dismantling of the apartheid system set up by Israel against the Palestinians, there can be no end to the horrible civil suffering that we are witnesses,” concludes the secretary general of Amnesty.

Amnesty International finally claims to be continuing its investigations on dozens of attacks in Gaza.
