The tennis champion Ons Jabeur reacted, Wednesday, December 13, 2023, on her Facebook account, to the two awards she has just received from the WTA, declaring herself in particular.
These two trophies she received, in recognition for her performances and her initiatives outside the tennis courts, make her the sportswoman of the year, she who ended the season in the world in the WTA ranking.
Ons Jabeur received the Peachy Kellmeyer Player Service Award, awarded by his pairs, for having “shown the way in the support of other athletes as well as in broader initiatives”.
She also received the Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award which is also a prize voted by the players recognizing a real sport ambassador, who respects the rules of fair play, shows respect for others and behaves with elegance on the ground and outside.
In another context, the Tunisian champion will start her new season on January 14, taking part in the Australian Open, the first Grand Chelem tournament (2000 points) of the year.
The Tunisian champion does not intend to participate in any preparatory tournament before that, with the exception of an exhibition match, the Riyadh Season Tennis Cup against the world number 2, Aryna Sabalenka on December 26 in Riyadh.
After the Australian Open, Ons Jabeur will participate in the open Dhabi Open, between February 5 and 12, 2024, then in the Doha Open, a week later and at the Dubai tournament from February 18.
