The Tunisian film Brotherhood of Meryam Joobeur appointed for the 2020 Oscars

It is this morning that the Academy of Arts and Cinema Sciences Unveiled the lists of films appointed for the 2020 Oscars.

Le Tuniso-Canadian film Broth of Meryam Jobeur, With in the main roles Mohamed Houcine Graya and Salha Nasraoui is officially appointed for the 2020 Oscars in the fictional short film category. This is the first time that a Tunisian film has arrived in the Oscar final.

Broth had already been selected at several festivals, and had won several prizes including the Tanit d’Or short film fiction at the 2018 JCC and the Best Film Prize in the Cinema section of tomorrow at the 2018 Cairo Film International Festival.

Synopsis:
Harvesting shepherd living in rural Tunisia with his wife and two sons, Mohamed is deeply shaken when his eldest son Malik’s elder’s return. This one, back with a mysterious new wife faces his father’s disapproving look. The tension between the father and the son intensifies over three days until reaching a breaking point.

It should be noted that the French short film Nefta Football Club of Yves Piat, shot in Tunisia, with Tunisian actors, is also appointed.
