Arrested on October 26 for suspicions of financial corruption and being the subject of two deposit mandates, the president of the FTF sent, this Tuesday, January 9, 2024, an open letter to the President of the Kais Republic Saied. A letter published on his Facebook page…
The president of the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF), Wadii Jary, is the subject of two deposit mandates. The first was issued against him on October 26, 2023 against the backdrop of corruption suspicions concerning the signing of a contract between the FTF and a former technical director.
Affaire for which Wadii Jary had been auditioned for the first time in El Gorjani on August 30, 2023 and had been maintained in a state of freedom, at that time.
However, the president of the FTF is also accused of “embezzlement of public funds made available to him, in relation to characteristics of his post”. The investigating judge issued a warrant for deposit against Wadi Jary, on November 28, as part of this case.
This case is related to a complaint filed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports against the President of the FTF, concerning funds of the African Football Confederation.
This Tuesday, January 9, 2023, a letter sent directly to the Head of State was published on his Facebook account in which he first presents a long presentation of his person and his origins, of Ben Guerdane, who “resisted terrorism”, without the latter asking for compensation in return.
Wadii Jary indicates in substance, that he was able to resist “some of the lobbies that tried to overthrow him at the head of the FTF and used all possible lies and methods”.
“The subject of this first correspondence is a complaint filed by the current Minister of Youth and Sports (Kamel Deguiche) on the grounds that I did not respect decree n ° 552 of 1977 when concluding a contract with the former technical director for the period extending from 07/01/2020 to 30/06/2022.
The fact is that this question was repealed by law n ° 63 of 1984, which was then explicitly repealed by the law on sports associations of 1995 ”. He explains that “the criminal complaint has no legal existence since 1995”.
He also explains that “the contract was ratified with the former technical director by the ministry, who wrote to the FTF to inform him of the ratification by the aforementioned ministry of the contract (…)”.
Wadii Jary recalls that the FTF concludes the same contract with all the former presidents of the FTF and technical directors for about a quarter of a century, and estimates that no president is guilty.
