A press conference was held in the new cultural space “Le 32bis”, located at Ben Gedhahem Street in Tunis, to present Ghodwa … (Tomorrow) The next Dhafer the Abidine film. The novelty is that this time, Dhafer will not only be an actor, but also director for the first time in his career.
It is Dhafer the Abidine and her co-producer Dorra Bouchoucha (Nomadis Images) who talked about this new fictional feature film, whose shooting will start on Tuesday March 9 in downtown Tunis.
Dhafer Abidine said they were very happy and proud to finally fulfill a dream: to make your own film. Indeed, as an actor, he is always forced to comply with the character he interprets, in the framework that corresponds to the requested work and as the director of the film conceives. This time, as a screenwriter and director, he will finally be able to express himself and communicate his own point of view and take responsibility for the whole project and all the characters. This time, the film will finally reflect its personal point of view. Especially since he co -wrote a story close to him, and close to the environment in which he lived and was raised.
Ghodwa … is a social drama, a Tunisian story, taken from our Tunisian society, which tells of a father’s relationship, Habib, with his son Ahmed, 15, who after years of separation, are brought together in exceptional circumstances. Dhafer refuses to say more, but promises that this film will be different from what we are used to seeing.
Why this title Ghodwa … ?
According to Dhafer, “Ghodwa” is important to all of us. In our lives, we are still talking about “ghodwa”. Hope is for “Ghodwa”. In the film, there will be something important linked to a specific moment and which will have repercussions on “Ghodwa”.
Apart from the coscenist and the director of photography, who are Egyptians, the film is entirely Tunisian, taken from our Tunisian reality, shot in Tunisia and with a Tunisian team.
Regarding the actors, Dhafer said that he wanted to choose those who seemed to him the most likely to interpret and embody the characters, as he designed them. No other criterion has influenced its decisions. The important thing was not to choose stars, but to have actors who could reflect your thought. His choice fell in particular on Najla Ben AbdallahBahri Rahali, Ghanem Zrelli, Rabeb Srairi and Ahmed Berrhouma.

Being an Arab and international star, it is obvious that Dhafer Abidine could have made his film in the country of his choice, including in Egypt, which has a real film industry, and could thus have guaranteed its film a commercial success.
