The transport of weapons to Israel blocked by Belgian handling unions

Belgian handling unions now refuse to handle military equipment intended for war in Palestine … Enough to block the transport of weapons to Israel!

Several Belgian unions in the handling sector have published, Tuesday, October 31, 2023, a joint press release in which they mean their “refusal to handle military equipment intended for war in Palestine”.

The reason invoked is simply a position in a tense international context while the massacres in Gaza are accentuated with more than 8000 Palestinians killed by the Israeli army.

Indeed, the press release denounces “a genocide in progress in Palestine”. “Workers of the various Belgian airports see weapons going to war areas”. On this basis, the text calls for members of the various unions to “no longer take care of thefts which transport military equipment to Palestine/Israel”.

This press release is a response to the call of October 16 of Palestinian unions to workers around the world to oppose the production and delivery of weapons to Israel.

Another answer to this call came from England where several dozen trade unionists blocked last Thursday the entries of a factory of the Israeli Armament Elbit Systems.

These actions, intended to short-circuit the unconditional military support of the Western powers in Israel are beginning to hatch.
