The Israeli army admitted to having targeted and struck on Friday, November 3, an ambulance in front of the main hospital in Gaza, Al-Chifa. The vehicle was transporting members of Hamas.
Israeli strikes continue on the Gaza Strip and no longer spare health personnel. The Israeli army admitted to having targeted and struck an ambulance in front of the main Gaza hospital, Al-Chifa, because the vehicle was carrying members of Hamas.
An explanation denied by Hamas, in a press release published on Telegram. According to the Ministry of Health and the Palestinian Red Crescent, the strike left 15 dead and 60 injured, including civilians in front of the hospital. They claimed that the ambulance was part of a convoy which transported several wounded to Egypt.
“The convoy consisted of five ambulances”, including one from the Ministry of Health of Hamas and one of the Red Crescent, said the NGO in a statement. According to him, the bombing occurred two meters from the entrance to the Al-Chifa hospital. A second ambulance was targeted “about one kilometer from the hospital” and the wounded were noted, the humanitarian organization added.
The boss of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, is “deeply shocked”. He recalled that “patients, caregivers, establishments and ambulances should be protected at all times”. UN chief Antonio Guterres also said he was “horrified” by the shot in a press release.
The UN humanitarian coordinator in the occupied Palestinian territories, Lynn Hastings, said herself “alarmed”, because the strike targeted “patients who were going to be evacuated to be safe”.
