The Superstar Hussein Fahmy, president of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF)announced the appointment of the Egyptian director Amir Ramses as director of the 44th edition of the festival.
The president of the festival, Hussein Fahmy, said: ” I am very happy that my friend Amir Ramses accepts the direction of the Cairo International Film Festival, because of his experience in this field, and I wish him success ».
For his part, Ramses commented: ” It is a great honor to be responsible for assuming this great responsibility, for working under the direction of one of the icons of Egyptian cinema and in the oldest leading film festival in the Arab region. I aspire to follow in the footsteps of the previous team which has played a big role in the development of the festival in recent years ».
Amir Ramses is an Egyptian director, a graduate of the Higher Cinema Institute (Egypt) in 2000. He first worked as a director assistant on several films with the Egyptian international director Youssef Chahine. His films have been selected at many acclaimed films festivals, which has earned him several Arab prizes. His documentary, Jews from Egypt I (2013), participated, among other things, in the Palm Springs Film Festival, the Montreal International Film Festival and the Hamburg Film Festival and helped to arouse the interest of its fellow citizens for this heritage common to all the Egyptians, of all confessions, which fell into oblivion. His feature film At Cairo (2014) was the opening film of the Arabian Nights program and participated in the Dubai International Film Festival in 2014. His latest film Curfew (2020) with Star Ilham Chahine In the main role had been selected in 2020 at CIFF and won the best female interpretation award. Amir recently finished filming his soap opera The colors of the sea With Khaled El Nabawi and Tunisian actress Aicha ben Ahmed.

Amir Ramses was also the artistic director of the El Gouna Film Festival for his first five editions (2017-2021).
The Cairo International Film Festival is one of the oldest and most prestigious festivals in the Arab world and Africa and is the only festival in the Arab and African region registered in category A with the International Federation of Producers of Paris (FIAPF).
