Elvis de Baz Luhrmann in preview at the 75th Cannes Festival

Australian director, screenwriter and producer Baz Luhrmann will be at the Cannes Film Festival to present his latest film in the world preview Elvisin the company of Austin Butler, Tom Hanks, and Olivia Dejonge.

Elvis Attends to the life and work of Elvis Presley (Austin Butler), through the prism of his complex relationships with his mysterious manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks). The story plunges into the complex dynamics between Presley and Parker over more than 20 years, from the ascent to the celebrity of Presley to its status as a unprecedented star, while America is crossed by major socio -cultural upheavals and loses its innocence. At the heart of this journey is one of the most important and influential people in Elvis’s life, Priscilla Presley (Olivia Dejonge).

Elvis From Baz Luhrmann, produced by Bazmark and The Jackal Group will be released in North America on June 24, 2022 and in the rest of the world from June 22, 2022.

Baz Luhrmann, flamboyant filmmaker, marked the memory of the Cannes Film Festival by being the only director to present two feature films at the opening of the event with Moulin Rouge! in 2001, selected in competition, and Gatsby the Magnificent In 2013. In 1992, he caused a sensation during the 45th edition of the festival with his first film Ballroom Dancingprojected in the a certain look section.

The most important of the world cinema festivals must unveil its official selection on April 14, including the list of films in the running to succeed in The Palme d’Or 2021, Titanium by Julia Ducournau. One month before the festivities (May 17 to 28), very little information filtered on this 75e edition. Neither the composition of the jury nor the opening film is yet known. Only certainty, the presence of Tom Cruise, back in the cockpit to present, 35 years later, a sequel to the legendary Top Gun. Top Gun Maverick must be screened on May 18, 2022.
