Critics’ Week, a Cannes parallel section dedicated to the first and second films, is proud to entrust the presidency of the jury of this 61e edition to the Tunisian filmmaker, Kaouther Ben Hania.
The latter had already been Member of the jury of short films and the Cinéfondation School Film Competition during the 2021 edition of the Cannes Festival.
Born in Sidi Bouzid, the director begins her career in Tunis and built in four short films, a documentary and four feature films, a work deeply rooted in life and social satire. Selected at ACID 2014, his first film The Challat of Tunis Tell with humor the true story of a balafur – or Challat in Tunisian Arabic – who was attacking women with a razor by riding his motorcycle.
